PEI Burger Love: Paul Bunyan Burger at The Orange Lunchbox

Timber! I just axed a giant! ...Or rather, a giant Burger Love creation! The Orange Lunchbox's Paul Bunyan Burger was just the farewell kiss I needed on this, the very last day of Burger Love. It's a bittersweet day for all of us Islanders, thinking back on the happy memories of all the Burger's we've courted and suddenly realizing that when we wake up tomorrow on May 1st, our love affair has come to an end...

Well I knew exactly what I wanted and that was to head down to the Big Orange Lunchbox. Some of you may recall, but last year my final Burger Love was the Box's Ric Flair Donair Burger and this year, I was going to continue that tradition by taking on the Paul Bunyan! I always expect perfection from Chef James Oja and his Team, because honestly, that's what I've always gotten. And I'm not the only one that loves the Big Orange Luncbox, it's gotten attention across our fair Country!

This week it's being featuring on the Marilyn Denis talk show, Daily Planet featuring Clara Hughes, because she loves the Box so much that she personally requested Chef James bring his food truck to the waterfront and meet with him and of course, on "You Gotta Eat Here!"...which if you take a look at the Box's episode you might see someone a little familiar. All of this honestly adds up to the hard work and inexhaustible talent that's constantly put into the Box every day and they deserve all the accolades that they receive.

So I want to give a huge virtual hug to Chef James Oja for creating food (and burgers) my tummy loves, Jason for always being so cool and making great conversation, Cecily for being a sweetheart of a foodie and Drew Lovelock, the crafter of the my Burger today and is downright rockin' man in the photo!

And so, the Paul Bunyan; a Burger that's as legendary as it's namesake is my delicious farewell to Burger Love and oh what a perfect selection it was!

Beginning it's story with 6oz of Island Beef, this Burger is decked out with a whole tale's worth of ingredients. 3 Strips of Double Smoked Bacon, Black Garlic Aioli, Caramelized Onions, Pickled Hot Banana Peppers, Goat Cheese, Mozzarella and Cheddar Cheese, Black Forest Ham, Butter Head Lettuce, Tomato and Two Eggs all between two amazing Savory Cheese Waffles is what I'm going to be telling generation after generation of little ones about in years to come!

As I took that very first of the last bites of Burger mouth wouldn't let me take a break! I loved this Burger SO much that I didn't even want to take times to write down notes! But for your benefit, my friend, I curbed my obsession just enough to bring you this review. So you better thank my super-human will power, since the Big Orange Lunchbox always takes awesome seriously which means this burger, by extension was seriously awesome.

Of course, the first thing to hit me was the beef! It's so juicy and hearty, you can tell that it loves being on this burger because every bite I take this perfectly seasoned patty joins in with each unique flavor. I think this time not only am I in love, but so is the beef! I think that's a true double meaning of Burger Love, when the Burger's in love too. Adding to the meaty flavors of this burger was super thick cut and ultra smoky bacon that's got crunchy perfected. Mmmmmm. And the ham. That glorious Black Forest Ham! I've been a ham fan since I can remember and I know great ham when I taste it and this ham was AWESOME!

Then there was that heavenly blend of cheeses that brought this Burger's appeal even more sky high in my opinion! The Goat Cheese was mild and smooth, creating an overall creamy experience while the Mozzarella became melty with it's smooth flavor and cheddar of course was smooth and savory, all in all a trio of flavors and a trio of textures!

Of course the Black Garlic Aioli was another creamy, sweet and salty presence that I fell in love with that reminds me just how lucky we are to have such great food forward Culinary minds on the Island. Black Garlic is a delicacy that while most people picture on dainty plates holds it own yummiliciously when on a Burger! It's just another one of Chef Jame's Oja's flair for taking the unexpected and adding it into his awesome creations! Add in great caramelized onions and an array of fresh veggies for a mountain of Burger Love! Oh and I can't forget the mild heat of the Pickled Banana Peppers because...Paul Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers for his Perfect...Burger!

I bet you're wondering if Waffles and Eggs were awesome on a burger? DUH! They're not just awesome they're that word which so much better than awesome that it can't even exist because our minds would be blown if it did! These fluffy waffles were so deliciously savory with their clear herbal notes and the cheddar was so...cheddary. I want them for breakfast every single morning! And the eggs? Well, they've been a traditional beef topping in different countries for many, many years and so it makes sense they'd be perfect on a burger. The velvety yolk is so perfect with the beef that it must be tasted to be believed!

On the side, I couldn't resist some of the Box's delicious poutine! So I went for the Donald Duck Poutine and you can see from the photo how happy it made me. I'm certainly a lucky duck to eat this taste tempting plate of goodness. Their always perfect handcut fries are topped with rich gravy, sweet and smoky Asian pulled duck, cool and tangy blue cheese and fried pepperoni! Honesty, the first place I ate duck was the Box and I'll only get it there because they know how to make it just right for my taste buds! The blue cheese with it is a perfect match and does so much more than cheese curds ever could! This whole plate is smothered in so much yum that it should have been the legendary Paul Bunyan's friend in those stories, forger Babe the Blue Ox!

As you can tell this is one happy burger (and poutine) that left me wearing an incurable grin that will last me all the way until next April! It's been an amazing month of culinary creations that are way beyond my imagination. I'm so happy to have taken part in this and shared it with all of you passionate eaters and curious Burger Lovers. Keep Burgering!

Oh and I got the good on what's happening at the Big Orange Lunchbox from Jason today! You had all better get down there at 7pm on May 5th to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo OLB Style! They're hosting a Taco Challenge of epic proportions where entrants get all you can eat Tacos for $25.00 and compete for fabulous prizes! For those of us who just want to sit back and watch there's going to be live entertainment with no cover, specials and just a fun time to be had by all! So make sure you're there!

Here's a little something else for you to look forward to; a little Burger might have told me that the winds of change could be breezing by the menu at the Big Orange Lunchbox this Spring.

And so I sign off from April, 2014 saying, Good Night and Good Burger~

PEI Burger Love: The Redneck Monte Cristo at The Factory Cookhouse

I've always thought of myself as a bit of an Urban girl and have even been called such things as a Hipster and "Nerdster", but today, on this the second last day of Burger Love, I'm a thoroughbred Redneck! And why this incredible and completely drastic change? The Redneck Monte Cristo at The Factory Cookhouse, of course! That Burger has got some powerfully cool flavors to make even the staunchest of businessmen or "cool kid" to start stomping their feet a good ol' country tune and sing along!

The Redneck Monte Cristo has the makings of a classic Hamburger with just enough Cookhouse kick to send it into high gear for this Burger Loving April! With it's authentic country atmosphere and super friendly people, like my waitress today, Lisa, the Cookhouse is always a I knew this was going to be a great Burger Love! A burger that's truly worthy of breakfast, lunch and dinner, this Monte Cristo is so much more than just a take on the popular sandwich from which it took it's cue. It's an experience and honestly, I couldn't go through Burger Love without seeing what PEI Beef tastes like on French Toast, I mean seriously! The Cookhouse is so creative that it took one of their own signature brunch favorites and put our own favorite beef between it! ...Oh yeah, that just blew your mind, I can tell.

The Redneck Monte Cristo starts with the best of the best, using 7oz of Island Beef and then goes all yokel on you by adding in Swiss Cheese, Breakfast Ham, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, Hamburger Pickles, Bacon and the Factory's Signature BBQ Sauce with Peanut Butter all between pieces of Cinnamon French Toast!

Chef Mark Duffy did a great job putting together my plate of awesomeness and that first bite was everything I was expecting! The rustic allure of this Burger gave off scents of sweet, spice, smoke and salt, all of the divine flavors that make April such a terrific month! The crunch of the bacon and veggies met the sauciness of the Peanut Butter BBQ which paired with the meat and cheese for a perfect little line dance of tastes! It was that bite which transformed me!

Of course the Island Beef adapted perfectly to this array of flavors and made a super awesome beefy base upon which this Burger is built! Juicy and true to it's traditional beefiness, it's definitely the star of this unconventionally cool creation! With layers of thing sliced succulent bacon and smoky bacon with the best crunch, we're talking a meat trio that sings love songs to you as you dig in! With the uniqueness of the Swiss Cheese put in the mix, the two smooth and creamy slices lent their one-of-a-kind tang to the Redneck Monte Cristo. Gotta love that Swiss! In fact...gotta love everything about this Burger!

Suble Peanut Butter comes through in the house made Signature BBQ Sauce which is served on the side so you can add as much of this playfully luscious stuff as you want! Smoky with the sweet and salty notes of the peanut butter makes it's personality perfect with this Burger Love Creation. The fresh and crisp veggies played a part in how this Burger remains a classic while playing the Redneck and I gotta say the dill in the Hamburger Pickles really played nicely with the Swiss Cheese!

And of course, the thing you've all been waiting to hear about. The french toast! Well, it adds great texture as the burger bun and is very fun with that little bit of cinnamon-y warmth. It acts like French Toast has been playing Hamburger Bun from the dawn of time. Or at least since the dawn of Burgers. It's extremely natural tasting with all of the Redneck Monte Cristo's components and so while it's a hip little feature to add in and a great story to tell people about; the French Toast is just as much a part of this Burger as the beef!

And I pulled a double threat with my side today! Whoa! Bet you didn't see that coming. I couldn't decide between the House Made Chili or the Bacon Wrapped Corn. They're both Cookhouse signatures and totally delectable! And so, as anyone when faced with such a difficult decision I did the only thing I could do. Choose both! Oh yeah, that's the way I roll. The Chili came with this adorable little house made mini corn muffin that when pair with the Chili tasted like they were made for one another! Made with fresh veggies and tons of smoked meat including pulled pork, this chili is the meatiest I've ever had! It's got tons of flavor with only a moderate heat so anyone can love it. And the corn, on that corn so aromatic with it's sweet and smokiness. The bacon was crunchy, the corn juicy and buttery. Sweet, salty, smoky and you guessed it, yummilicious! Do I really need to say more? It doesn't get much more classic then these two sides at the Cookhouse!

And then there was one. One more day left of Burger Love after today's fateful sunset and so, saddle up Pardner and ride your faithful steed down to the cookhouse before this incredibly unique and awesome burger slips between your fingers! ...And since I'm an incurable bookworm, I just have to add that the Count would love this Monte Cristo!

So, now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll cap off my day as an honorary Redneck by watching an episode of Duck Dynasty.

PEI Burger Love: The Tropical Storm at The Prince Edward Restaurant

I'm telling everyone something right now, if PEI tasted like a Hamburger, the Tropical Storm is it, people!

Today, I experienced my 20th Burger Love creation of 2014 and it's the perfect representation of a Burger that stands for every generation and is fueled by the selfless passion of Chef, Owner and Tropical Storm Creator, Paul Haddad. It was my first visit to the Prince Edward Restaurant and now I know what all the buzz is about, from my first taste it was apparent why I often see cars flocking to the Prince Edward to satisfy their hunger with down to earth, honest to goodness PEI fare.

It's family friendly atmosphere was even more apparent from my waitress Kristie who's so friendly and personable that not only did she get along with me like a friend but I also observed that she was just as genuine and caring with every other guest at the Prince Edward! We're talking about some seriously awesome people that made my experience memorable before i even got to the Burger!

Speaking of which, this Tropical Storm is just as welcome as the Burgers in April and it's just the weather shift we've been waiting for!

There's so much to love, starting with 12 of pure Island Beef and complimenting it with PEI Handcrafted Cheddar Cheese, Homemade Sweet & Spicy Tangy Sauce, Grilled Onions, Relish, Smoked Island Honey Ham, Jalapeno Havarti, Triple Smoked Bacon, Pickles, Fresh Tomato, Iceberg Lettuce and Ketchup all on a Toasted Sesame Bun!

And I'll tell you right now, the Tropical Storm is a smooth talker! From my very first bite, it had me captivated and wanting to know more and more of it's amazing flavors that bring you more in love with each bite. Completely blown away by this taste of pure PEI tradition, I just couldn't want to get on my blog and tell all of you about this Burger that's fueled by what's made Islanders adore burgers for decades!

Everything about this burger is exactly what your dreaming off with a tempting scent and tangy heat that's just enough warm your heart like a Summer's Day! With refreshing toppers of sweet and juicy fruit, I had a great time indulging in the luscious strawberry, crisp honeydew melon and of course, my favorite, the always perfect...pineapple!

Of course, all the fruit was tasty and great but let's talk about what we're all here for, the beef!

With it's deep and rich flavor, there's no quality spared on this massively impressive Burger, All 12oz of Island Beef are so fresh that it melts on your mouth and tastes like pure PEI. The triple smoked bacon is so crispy and has a perfect crunch with smoke that stands up boldly in this burger of dynamic flavors. Next the Honey Ham is succulent while being smoky and sweet, bringing together all of the meats with the rest of the Storm's yumminess. Of course, since this is all Island meats it completes the package and ties this burger up with a bow of genuine local flavor!

And with no types of cheese it's no wonder this Burger is a dream come true for me! They lend their flavors to every bit of this burger and create a party in your mouth with their creamy, savory and even a little bit of spicy. The ADL Handcrafted Cheddar is even lovingly hand sliced from the massively awesome blocks that the Prince Edward Restaurant orders in. No wonder everything tastes so fresh. And that Jalapeno Havarti had just enough attitude that anyone can enjoy it's pleasant subtle heat while savoring the smooth coolness of the cheese's base.

With all the fresh veggies in the mix, the Tropical Storm his that careful balance of epic Burger Love beauty and classically loved Burger for the ages. It's divine and flavor packed with the pickles and condiments giving it a sensation of the most delicious mustard pickles your Grandmother can't even make! The grilled onions add another sweet and savory piece to this culinary treasure that's got Chef Paul's years of expert knowledge behind it. Oh and of course, you didn't think I'd forget that Heavenly Sweet & Spicy Tangy Sauce, did you? Well, Chef Paul worked hard at perfecting the ideal flavor for his Burger Love creation and it's part of what makes this Burger worthy of your love!

Ever heard of the rare conditions that need to take place in order for a so called "Perfect Storm" to take place? Well meteorologists, you've met your match, this is the Perfect Storm!

And of course such a perfect burger needs a perfect side! I got a combination of Deep Fried Mushrooms and Sweet Potato Fries to go along side the Tropical Storm and they were magnificent! The Deep Fried Mushrooms were so yummy, their's natural warmth accentuated by the coating and then countered by the cool, light and creamy ranch dip with which they were paired. I could have sat and ate those crunchy little morsels one after another for a good long time and I will be returning for more! And those Sweet Potato Fries? They're sweet fries. Seriously, those are some happy potatoes right there, thin, crisp and all ready for you to rejoice in like the rest of the awesome food at the Prince Edward!

Well, I think I've made my impression pretty clear. The Tropical Storm is a true and satisfying meal through and through with that unique taste that makes it an Islander in and of itself. I kept licking my fingers so I wouldn't miss one little taste, it was just that excellent!

And let me just add...I love ya Boomer, but I have to say that you've never gave forecast of a storm as great as this one!

PEI Burger Love: The King Fritter at Hunter's Ale House

Did you hear the news? I'm Burger Queen for the day!

...Okay, so maybe I'm not officially Burger Queen, but when the King Fritter and I had our rendezvous this afternoon, I certainly felt like a Queen. And isn't that the sign of a great Burger? Something that makes you feel at the best of yourself (and maybe even a little more). So, that's how today, I felt my most regal and had the delicious Burger Love creation at Hunter's Ale House become the King of my heart!

Famous for their massive portions at Hunter's, Chef Matt Bakker decided to channel his passion for all things breakfast this year instead of going for another mile high Burger Love Creation. And while the King Fritter might not be high in stature but it's got a whole castle worth of flavors that after being served up to thousands of Burger Love guests, it's attracted a whole Kingdom worth of happy, satisfied subjects!

With one of the undoubtedly most unique buns for a Burger, the King Fritter is not only imaginative but also an awesome tribute to Island Beef! With 7oz of the good stuff, 100% Island Beef, Breakfast Ham, Crispy Bacon, a Fried Egg Over-easy and the Ultimate Hollandaise Sauce between two thick and crispy delicious Apple Fritters this breakfast inspired burger gives  your heart a Kingly wake up call with it's regal and fun-loving nature!

To be honest, the first day when I read through all 54 Burger designs the King Fritter stood out to me. I'm into really creative, cool and hip things and the whole fritter as a bun thing was immediately cool and I knew that there was a great story behind reading this burger. I'm already counting the people I'm going to tell about this once in a lifetime type of Burger. And you, my friends reading this are the inaugural fritter-story hearers.

And so let's start at the very beginning with that first pure bliss creating bite! No matter how good I thought the King Fritter looked in person or even how spectacular it sounded in it's description, that's not even a little big of preparation for how amazing this Burger Tastes! It's a whole lot of OMB! ...That's "Oh, My Burger!" in case you're wondering.

I usually finish off with the bun, but since it's such a feature on this creation, let's just chat about that first. It takes the beet to a new level, the apple awakens the lesser known fresh and light notes of the beef while the warm baking spices like nutmeg and cinnamon accentuate the warmer for a unique position of flavor on the tongue that's a huge part of the King Fritter's appeal. So while those fritters are a perfect sweet and savory with a crisp edge, in the end, it's all about the Beef, bringing out it's best and reintroducing people's taste buds to how unique and adaptable of a meat it really is. Add two smoky aspects of pork into the mix for a meaty, juicy, savory Burger that has easily earned it's title of "King Fritter"!

Can I just say something for a moment that I've been absolutely bursting to get out? BEST. HOLLANDAISE. EVER. ahem. Well, it's true! Ultimate, indeed! There's no need to be modest when you've got such a velvety sauce to grace this burger with. It's clear that Chef Matt shares my love of Hollandaise and thankfully, has the talent to execute this sauce of pure, buttery goodness. Mingling with the flavors of the burger and yolk of the over easy egg and it's the true golden crown of the King Fritter. Speaking of the egg, it was stupendous on the burger, I've said it before and I'll say it again, egg on burger is a little known culinary treasure that is truly done justice on this burger!

And I bet you're drooling over that plate of deliciously smothered goodness beside this text, aren't you? Well, that's completely understandable. That's my side, the inimitable Turkey Dinner Poutine that is one of ten signature Poutine dishes that Hunter's offers. They've got everything from Mac and Cheese Poutine to Chicken Curry Poutine and I sincerely intend to go and try each one; sort of a foodie Bucket List item, if you will. This first of my Hunter's Poutine experiences was topped with House Made Stuffing, House Made Gravy and truly fresh Turkey and when I saw that plate my eyes nearly fell out of my head! There's no way I'm serving traditional Turkey Dinner, next Thanksgiving, I'm having Hunter's cater with this poutine!

Those piled high golden and crunchy fries are smothered with creamy gravy that's worth walking across the Island for! Along with Stuffing seasoned to such perfection that I swear Chef Matt's got to be hiding a Mother in his kitchen, because it's even better than home! All with savory cheese curds. peas and succulent turkey this Canadian classic is taking a hint from one of PEI's favorite meals! I'm certainly giving thanks for Hunter's with this poutine.

With only four days left to get out there and enjoy Burger Love, don't get lost on your search for Love! Look no further than Hunter's Ale House for this whole meal that's fit for royalty! The King Fritter will make you feel like your a Burger Love Royal!

P.S. A big hello to Jeff the awesomely friendly Manager at Hunter's and Steve, their ultra-cool manager!

PEI Burger Love: The Imperial at The Pilot House

The word Imperial brings forth many, many mental images. Thoughts of absolute rulers, the most eloquent of Empires in History, things of beauty and priceless value. And while all of those are awakened by a simple word, none of them is so powerful as the image, taste and scent of The Pilot House's PEI Burger Love 2014 creation; "The Imperial".

Today was the destined time for me to meet with a true Emperor amongst Burgers, who, like the Eternal City itself will stand proud, tall and tasty through endless generations of adoring eaters. With well over one-thousand burgers already come before my turn to eat this beloved Burger and with a prospective of 2,000 Burgers to be the total served by the end of April means there are a whole lot of Imperial Devotees! ...And I'm one of the most devoted to this Burger made of pure awesome!

My visit was made even more epic by the awesome staff at the Pilot House! A big shout our to Richard for being, friendly, welcoming and genuine as he always is, Joel for sharing his passion of Burger Love in a fun little chat and of course, to Chef Jared Acorn, the strong and talented culinary presence to whom I owe my love of The Imperial.

And oh, what an easy Burger to fall in love with! The very same way that The Pilot House's 2013 creation pulled me head over heels, so did the Imperial without even a taste. My knowledge of their devotion to creating food of the highest caliber was assurance enough that I was walking in on one of the best burgers of 2014! But let's face it, for all of you Pilot House first timers, just a look at these ingredients will take your heart away!

The Imperial's got it all from a 6oz of Demiglazed Grilled Island Beef, Balsamic Marinated Portobello Mushroom, Caramelized Onions, Four Year Old Aged Cheddar, Roasted Red Pepper, Dill Pickle, Maple Dressed Arugula, Sour Cream and Mustard Aioli all on a Potato and Chive Toasted Bun. That's one Burger that I don't mind ruling my heart and taste buds!

And rule it did, as the Roman's would say with true "Imperium", absolute and total power! The very moment I sunk my teeth into tis Burger it's flavors enveloped me with a potency that could only come from pure culinary genius and 100% Island Beef! It's as simply delicious as a Burger can get, every taste filled to the max with refined flavor. Every piece of this burger compliments the other as a whole and even separately which creates a total sensory experience that takes over every inch of a Burger Lover's imagination, adoration and any other -ation that you can possibly think of! It's all consuming deliciousness seems to mirror the perfection that the Romans strove for and what made them what's considered one of the greatest Empire's to have ever existed.

Am I comparing The Imperial to that? You bet I am!

The juicy, demiglazed beef is so fresh it's mind-blowing! Much like last year's Soul Mates, The Imperial has got the clean, crisp and hearty notes that are PEI Beef's signature down to an art, so much so that I relish in the true flavors of our amazing beef. Paired with the portabello, which is a strong and almost beefy presense, the two blend together with potent fluency. Not only that, but every ingredient, as it blends with the other and comes together against the beef is another part of what makes this burger incredible!

With warm, savory, melty and sharp aged cheddar that soothes the palate matching wits with the cool and creamy sour cream and mustard aioli, there's a divine balance on your tongue that's decadent and smooth. Never before have a had an aioli that's both refreshing and intensely creamy as the one on the Imperial is, it truly impressed the mature part of my palate that thrives on fine dining. Well, after I stopped melting at how much deliciousness my senses were being assailed by!

And truly fitting of the sophisticated nature of this burger, the vegetables that graced it took on the high responsibility of being on the Pilot House's Burger! Of course, I've already raved to you about the hearty Portabello, but there was more! Sweet and warm, the Roasted Red Peppers were smooth and lovely, alongside caramelized onions that were a perfect balance alongside both the pepper and the very skillfully balanced attitude of the Arugula with it's sweet and charming Maple dressing. Let's just say, that perfection never tasted so good.

All of these tantalizing ingredients on a smooth, toasty and refreshing Potato Chive Bun that's got all of the heartiness to hold up with the rest of these powerful flavors and take part in the perfectly devised plan to steal your deepest of love and respect.

And so, I had to have an equally fitting side to this delicious Island based creation and what better than hand cut Island fries? Today is, after all, the very last day of Fry-Day for this year's Burger Love Campaign and so what kind of Burger Lover would I be if I didn't eat fries on this most important of days? And of course, like everything else at the Pilot House, their fries are fantastic! Golden delicious with their signature Chipotle Aioli that's not just great on our favorite spuds, but also on their sweet potato fries. Creamy with a touch of heat and loads of taste the Aioli dressed up these potatoes in the equivalent of a French Fry's Tux. Crunch with a fluffy and potato-ey inside? Yup, the perfect plate of fries for Fry-Day!

Want a burger that will completely wow you and send your taste buds and heart soaring? Well, look no further, the Pilot House is a choice destination for a taste of refinement and of course, all encompassing yummy! I promise that The Imperial has the power to rule your heart with everything you love and more.

PEI Burger Love: El Toro at Papa Joe's

Ole! Today I went to a flavor Fiesta at Papa Joe's, all courtesy of the festive tastes of their Burger Love, creation the "El Toro"!

Translated, El Toro means "The Bull" in Spanish and like a powerful, raging bull, this tasty creation will conquer your taste buds. But let's face it, when it comes to this love invoking blend of ingredients brought together by the creative minds at Papa Joes, a little bit of conquest in called for. These Burger Love Champions get down to business when it comes to stealing your heart, you go from awe to head over heels in one second flat after the very first bite of this Mexican inspired Burger Love creation!

As for me personally, I have so many fond memories of Papa Joe's. Generations of my family all gathered around a table, eating to our heart's content, the first Burger Love I ever wrote about, The Goddess and so many ideal meals that lead me to expect nothing but the best from Papa Joe's! Of course, my expectations were met and surpassed by yet another incredible year of Burger Love. This Burger is truly a dream come true for Chef Irwin and now for me too!

Featuring 7oz of Island Beef infused with Ground Bacon, Black Bean Salsa, Sour Cream Spread, Fresh Avocado, Toasted Cumin Gouda, Banana Peppers, Chiffonade of Romaine Lettuce, Crisp Corn Chips all on a Toasted Chibatta Bun and garnished with a Jalapeno Pepper Popper, Corn Chip and Tomato... That's all the makings of a culinary ticket on the yummiest Mexican vacation this side of the Atlantic Provinces.

And that very first bite was just that! The creamy coolness of the El Toro transported me to the porch of a Spanish Hacienda, looking out upon lush trees while a warm breeze refreshed me. And then the attitude and heat of this Burger rushed me into the Bull ring with a cheering ground and the thrill of a bull fight! It was the best of both worlds that both soothed and excited my taste buds at the same time in a unique contrast.

On top of this intensely delicious burger was a fitting precursor to the flavors inside. The Crispy, smooth and juicy Jalapeno Popper was cool with a kick! The Pepper luscious, the coating thick and crunchy while the cream cheese gave it a smooth finish. I could seriously eat a whole basket of those little guys! Add in the crunchy corn chip and a juicy cherry tomato and you're primed and ready for the main event! The ever epic sounding...El Toro!

Using their prized Easter Beef for this Burger, this hearty and beefy patty was seasoned to perfection until it had a Spanish accent! This beef was beyond fresh, super juicy and blended like nothing else and made this burger ultimately one with itself, every piece of it coming together in harmony. And with that ground bacon infused into the patty, we're talking sincerely meaty flavor that makes a girl like me just sit there, in awe with my pen in hand, unsure of what I can say to express to you it's greatness.

Alright, let's talk avocado. It's superfantasticallyincreiblyamazingly one of the BEST burger ingredients ever! It's not just a cool to the heat of this Burger powerhouse, it's got a presence all it's own and oh, it's telling you something. It's saying "You're going to love me!" and it's right! It's the creamy backdrop to this burger's combination of texture and taste. And it blends smoothly in with the toasted Cumin Gouda so awesomely.

Speaking of Cumin Gouda...Jeff McCourt! I swear, his amazing cheeses are following me around! I'm dreaming about this cheese, it's too perfect for my own good and while I know this month is all about the beef, I propose a month dedicated to the singular beauty of Chef McCourt's Gouda. As always, his cheese impressed me to the point that I'm begging for more. The thick slice upon the El Toro was a perfect compliment to the array of it's fellow Island sourced ingredients. Seriously, if you're reading this Jeff, send some of that Gouda my way!

Of course, there's a whole cast of impactful and magnificent flavors that will make you get up and start dancing the rhumba! The black bean salsa is "Mmmmm" inspiring against the coolness of the sour cream spread, along with the satisfying crunch of the corn chips that give it another aspect of making your senses run wild! Mix in a spicy blend of banana peppers for even more color and flavor for a personality profile a strong and commanding as a bull in the ring! All stacked carefully on a fluffy and yummy Chibatta to make up a burger that swept me off my feet.

As for my side, I chose to get one of Papa Joe's Signature Salads, their Cranberry Goat Cheese Salad is just as colorful as it is flavorful and hold a garden worth of fresh yumminess all for you! On a bed of crisp greens was celery, red onion, colorful sweet bell peppers, shredded carrot, slices of toasted almond, goat cheese and dried cranberries all with a house made creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette! With a bounty of creamy goat cheese and hearty sweet cranberries that add an edge along with the kick of the red onion, this salad is not only fantastic but extremely well appointed. Add in that heavenly dressing and lets just say I was one very happy girl. Chatting with Chef Irwin, he told me that a lot of regulars get this salad with either Chicken or Salmon on it which I can imagine is incredible. I'll just have to write in a visit to Papa Joe's to test that already concrete theory.

The El Toro is a Burger Love creation that's truly raging with passion and flavor! My suggestion, Hermano? Don your sombrero, round up your amigos and vamonos down to Papa Joe's for this paragon of flavor!

What are you doing still reading this? I said, go! You know you want to.

PEI Burger Love: The Olympian Burger from Downtown Deli

The Olympian Burger from the Downtown Deli is a truly fitting tribute to our Canadian Olympic Bobsled Team, Heather Moyse and Kallie Humpries who brought home Gold from this year's 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Along with honoring PEI Sports Hall of Famer David Eli MacEachen, a tenacious Olympic Island Bobsledder. And just like Heather brought her gold home to PEI, the Downtown Deli brings us all Burger Love creation made of pure gold flavors!

Co-Creators of the Olympian, Insaf and Fouad, owners of the Downtown Deli put true pride in their food and bringing you and I the highest of quality when it coms to flavor and ingredients. That's why, when Fouad came up with the ingenious idea to theme their Burger Love after our victorious Olympians, Insaf brought to the table an array of flavors so tempting and delicious it makes this burger impossible to resist! All on a Baguette that adorably mimics the shape of a bobsled, I have to say that this Burger scores a perfect 10 when it comes to design and taste!

Going into the Downtown Deli today, I must be honest, was more like being welcomed into a close friend's home that walking into a restaurant. With a warm welcome from everyone and all the enthusiasm of an athlete's homecoming, I never wanted to leave the Downtown Deli! It's just that awesome. Add that home like atmosphere with warm flavors that embrace you and I'd say you've got the perfect stage set for me to fall in love.

But, oops. I already did. Just looking at the Olympian as it came to my table was enough to set me love-struck. Let's just say that this burger looks ready for love, it's so perfect it could be featured on the cover of a magazine. From that very first glance and whiff of those heady and beautiful scents I was enamored with the Olympian. I could hardly imagine what the first bite would be like...

Is there a word strong than elation? Delight? Joy? Perfect happiness? Honestly I can pick just one to tell you how succulent and enchanting that very first captivating bite was. It's like nothing you've ever tasted before in Burger Love and exactly what you want to taste for the rest of your life! Immediately my senses were on an exotic vacation thanks to this Burger's rich spices and perfectly appointed seasoning. Yup, Chef Alex Murphy prepared this burger way too good!

With 10oz of Island Beef infused with Curry, Sultana Raisins and Toasted Almonds, you've got a patty that's as treasured at the coveted gold medals at the Olympics! Surrounded by Maple Chipotle Sauce, Mild Cranberry Chutney, Provolone Cheese, Maple Bacon, Montreal Smoked Meat, Leaf Lettuce, Red Onion and Tomato all on a Vienna Multigrain Baguette and topped with a Cherry Tomato, Crisp Dill Pickle and slice of fresh Pineapple.

I mean, "Hello"! That's one incredible line up of flavors that could easily make up Team Canada for the next Food Olympics!

The sweet and juicy Pineapple "Gold Medal" atop the Olympian was so delicious and is a perfect example of how the three flavors of the toppers compliment each other just like the combination of savory, spicy and sweet do throughout the burger. The dill pickle is the best I've ever eaten (and I'm a dill pickle kinda person.), it had this super crunch and a perfect dill flavor that made it amazing! And of course, that classic little cherry tomato with it's cheery freshness was lovely.

Honestly, the first thing that hit me when I bit into the Olympian was it's beef. This moist, sweet and spicy patty with flavors that can easily go the distance for your love. This is the Downtown Deli's first foray into the world of Burger Love, but, wow, that Burger tastes like they're total veterans! Keeping in touch with the Deli's flavor roots, they took this burger to higher ground by infusing it with such unique and complimentary ingredients. The beef is deliciously fresh and takes on all of the flavors around it as if it were created only for that purpose. And those Sultana Raisins? Make the beef even more, if not, impossibly juicier!

Add in authentic Montreal Smoked Meat and Maple Bacon to send me over the top in excitement! The Montreal Smoked Meat is a true classic at the Downtown Deli and their signature sandwich. Which, by the by, I absolutely cannot wait to go back and get one of those for myself! What I had on the Burger hooked me already! The Maple Bacon was a great idea because it's sweet and smoky balance brings together all of the flavors and ties them through one ingredient.

With warm flavors throughout, the Maple Chipotle which gives attitude and kick meets with the Cranberry Chutney, the two paying tribute to one another as they hit your taste buds. Warm and cool, spicy and sweet, I don't know how to tell you just how good it was other than to say you have to taste the Olympian to believe it! Topped off with melty and smooth Provolone cheese, it has a mild enough flavor that it lends itself to all of the powerful deliciousness around it. Add in some classic veggies that are crisp and juicy and you've got the makings of a legendary burger!

All of this on a Baguette that brings this Burger's uniqueness to another level and helps bring out the warm of flavors even more with it's multigrain heartiness. A truly innovative idea that not only adds more yum to the Olympian but also gives it that very cool Bobsled shape that gives itself so perfectly to this Burger's theme.

And on the side? A classic Greek Salad, of course! How could there be more perfect company for this burger than one that gives a nod to the ancient origins for the Olympic Games? With refreshing flavors of the Mediterranean, this Salad's light and heavenly herbed dressing was perfect with it's crisp and fresh veggies. It was definitely fitting of the first Olympians, those of Greek lore that lent their title to the athletic games that we've all grown to know and love. Juicy tomatoes, hearty olives, red and green sweet bell peppers, cucumber, red onion, greens and of course loads of creamy feta cheese all make up this Salad which is too good for mere mortals!

My final word? You cannot miss the Olympian! It's a truly unique and special offering this Burger Love that will leave you feeling like you just stepped to the top of the Olympic Podium! The only thing left for me is to say..."Can I have another, please?"

PEI Burger Love: The Koopa Burger at Casa Mia

Today I left my heart at Casa Mia! In fact, I think they had my heart long before I even stepped in the door...

Let me explain, the origin of Casa Mia's Burger Love creation comes from the classic Mario video game series and having grown up between being an artist and gamer, the moment I saw The Koopa on the Burger Love Website, my heart went right out to it! And while that's one degree of love, I fell into a whole new experience of Burger Love today that I didn't even know was possible!

So, decked out in my Super Mario Bros. shirt, I made my journey into this incredible Burger's lair.

The creative passion and total dedication of Chef Nathan at Casa Mia showed me that not only is the Koopa one outstandingly delicious burger, it's an actual love letter to Island Beef. If you've tasted the Koopa you'll know what I mean, it's all about presenting Island Beef to us passionate eaters in a way that is the highest compliment to this wildly popular natural resource of ours. With it's dynamic and tempting flavors, this burger a total work of art.

It's as enchanting as all of the wonderful people as Casa Mia, waitresses Janey and Elly, patsry Chef Joanne and the person to whom I owe my very Burger Love, Chef Nathan. I had the best time ever sitting down at chatting with him, to which I found a budding chef who has skill, wisdom and understanding for a veteran far beyond his years. Oh, and personality to boot! With his solid commitment to excellence that's part of every taste of The Koopa I am beyond impressed.

I mean who couldn't be impressed with this spread of flavors that are all 100% dedicated to making the beef as taste tempting as possible!? With 5oz of Island Beef spiked with Lamb Shoulder, Sirloin and infused with Mushroom Dexelle (which is Ground Mushrooms, Shallots and Herbs), you've got a super star patty right there! Add in Wild Mushroom Conserva, Chimichurri, Caramelized Onions, Pickled Red Onions and Cheddar Cheese all on a Homemade Bun with the an adorable PEI Potato topper sautéed in butter and...Yeah, I'm going back to Casa Mia right now--hold the review!

Seriously though, from it's topper to it's bottom, the Koopa has got personality and enthusiasm. The little Potato garish is so cute but it's also got savory, smooth and perfectly crisped in the butter for ideal flavor! Oh and if I haven't said enough yet about Chef Nathan, you should know that he's the one who hand cut every single potato garnish for The Koopa. If that's not dedication to every single burger that goes out into the Dining Room, I don't know what is.

With the very first bite, I knew this Burger is game on! Immediately I knew I was eating something special; with it's blend of refreshing flavors mingling with a authentically rich Beef, Lamb and Mushrooms, I knew I was taking my relationship to the next level with this beefy hero.

The moist and hearty beef was perfectly seasoned and refined with elegant flavors that I didn't even know was possible for beef to have! A combination of Chuck and Sirloin Beef along with the Lamb Shoulder achieves  a goal of texture and flavor perfection! It's smooth and rustic, it's juicy and tender while maintaining that signature heartiness that has made Burgers so popular. It's everything you want it to be and more, which is no small wonder with how Chef Nathan truly honor Island Beef, choosing to make everything around the beef compliment it like it's the most popular kid in High School. I'm not sure I've had quite so much to say about Beef before, but with how every piece of the Koopa's culinary puzzle is based on highlighting the Island Beef, who can blame such a passionate eater as I?

And what about those flavors? All those brilliant flavors that were more satisfying to eat than any high score I've ever beaten or any goal I've achieved in the realm of gaming? Well, let's see...they've got more skills that Mario has when it comes to rescuing Princess Peach. Why the Princess comparison? Because the Koopa made me feel like a Princess, so go with it. Alright?

The Chimichurri is was deliciously fresh tasting, lending it's flavors to the fluffy and classic bun while tying in with the crispness of the Pickled Red Onions which had their own characteristically pleasant attitude. These flavors which are cool and clean as a Summer Breeze marry with the warmth of the Caramelized Onion and earthy mushrooms to give  the Koopa a depth of flavor. Because let's face it, when you ingredients praise Island Beef and give kudos to one another, you're the one who comes out a Winner. A very spoiled, completely satisfied and love-struck Winner.

So what does all the equate to? A Burger that's phenomenal to the very. last. bite.

Now, you would think it couldn't get any better than that, wouldn't you? Well, you're wrong, my friend! Because my side was just as much a piece of culinary artistry as the Koopa. Warm, smooth and crispy Hash Browns were the perfect accompaniment. Those PEI Potatoes were doing the happy dance on my tongue! With generous chunks of perfectly cooked Potatoes, their skins all crispy and ready to be eaten, rich caramelized onion and crispy green onion. I'm pretty much on Rainbow Ride just thinking about it! (Which is something like Heaven to all you normal people.) They're so much more than Hash Browns and the best way to describe them? They taste like "I want a whole lot more, right now!"

On top of all that, me being the kind of girl I am, can't pass a dessert case without a little extra look and when I peered in Casa Mia's to find Chef Joanne's House Made Mocha Rum Cheese Cake, I went straight back to my table and ordered a slice of awesomeness for myself. It's exceptionally smooth and rich with every bite with an intense and blissful chocolate touched with rum and coffee. (Which just happen to be two of my favorite drinks in a slice of my favorite cake. I know, right?) It's perfection when paired with the light and airy yet equally rich whipped cream. Every velvety and decadent bite crowns your taste buds in luxury that can't be missed for any dessert enthusiast. Which begs the do you put Cloud Nine in a cake!? How do you do it, Chef Joanne!?

All in all on my visit to Casa Mia I found that I could taste the sheer pride of work that goes into every creation by these gifted Culinary Artists. As an eater who wants to bring to you the best of the best, it's truly humbling to be in the presence of such passionate and kind people, it refreshes my passion as well and it will yours when you taste the food philosophy that stands behind the Koopa.

I'm truly excited to return to Casa Mia again and again...and again.

My palate definitely found Burger Love in the Koopa and I know I found one of the most passionate Chef's ever with a future brighter than I can likely imagine. (Can I say Television Series? Are you reading this CBC?)

Oh and for all you Gamers out there; The Burger Love is NOT in another Castle, it's right here, at Casa Mia!

PEI Burger Love: The Big Sheppy at The Old Triangle

Today my Burger Love adventure drew me into The Old Triangle, not only the reigning Champions of Porktoberfest 2013, but also the home of the incredible looking Burger Love creation, "The Big Sheppy!" Inspired by the ever popular Shepherd Pie on the Triangle's menu, this burger sees that classic dish updated, Burger Love style!

A collective effort of the creative minds at The Old Triangle, the awesome Chef Kent Wilson came out to have a chat with me about this delectable Burger. Extremely passionate about house made, locally sourced ingredients, I was instantly impressed by their dedication to not only Burger Love but excellence when it comes to everything The Triangle has to offer. Not only that, but the whole restaurant exudes a cheery warmth that can only be because the staff is not merely colleagues but more akin to family. From owners Jill and Paul to waitress Sam, I had the best time chatting about passion for everything PEI and the excitement that Burger Love has generated!

And as I saw The Big Sheppy making it's way to my table, I could tell instantly why it's been served to over 600 very happy Islanders! It smells like all of the comforting things
you could imagine and had a delightfully charming presence with it's flower-like swirl of mashed potatoes. You can't get more classic than this Burger, it's a timeless tradition of its own.

And with that first bite, I discovered the sheer smoothness of the Sheppy and even though it was chilly outside, my heart and soul was instantly warmed by this fantastic Burger! It was the kind of first bite you write home about: "Wish you were here so you could try this amazing Burger. But get your own 'cause it's way to good to share!" It's just as much a burger as it is shepherd's pie and it mirrors all of my favorite things about both dishes!

With 8oz of Island Beef, Smoked Bacon, Herbed Mashed Potatoes with Creamed Corn, Beef Gravy and Deep Fried Squash Frites on a Grilled Cornmeal Bun it's the best thing since Shepherd's Pie!

Hearty ground beef gives it the perfect Shepherd's Pie texture and spiced to perfection it lands that careful and super tasty balance that this burger sports with total flair. Pair that with the smoky crispy bacon, because, seriously people; bacon. It's best on everything and with how delicious it tastes on the Sheppy, Shepard's Pie should take a hint and include bacon! The smooth beef gravy brings out the best in both of these meats and accentuates them so that they make you "Oooo", "Ahhh" and more importantly "Mmmmm", yourself into Burger Love Bliss!

Now, let me just say that PEI Potatoes have never been so proud as they are all swirly and creamy on top of the Sheppy, nestled around a heart of Cream Corn, these herbed mashed potatoes are truly Island inspired yum! These two flavors are a huge part of what makes this a real tribute to Shepherd's Pie and they pull that off perfectly. But the Sheppy's depth doesn't end at the all embracing creaminess of the potatoes and corn! There are also crispy squash frites which are pleasantly sweet and add another aspect of texture to The Sheppy.

On a locally made MacAulay's Bakery Cornmeal Bun, this fluffy and light bun ties everything together, especially with a the light dusting of cornmeal atop it that brings out the flavors of the Burger even more!

As my side, I picked an bowl of soup that I had no idea how much I would love! I propose that we announce next month as "Soup Love", so that I have an excuse to go in an have a bowl of Chef Phillip's amazing soups everyday! Then again, with a fresh daily creation at The Triangle, every day pretty well is Soup Love! This house made Cream of Turkey and Vegetable Soup was laden generously with juicy chunks of turkey! It's irresistibly creamy base was hearty and perfect on the palate, herbed to compliment the turkey, this soup is even better than anything your mother's made! Topped with crispy squash frites and it's warm creaminess, this soup was an ideal mate to The Big Sheppy!

The true comfort food of PEI Burger Love, The Big Sheppy has my heart from the very first sniff and I fell head over heels over burger for this amazing creation! It's something that everyone can easily love and will make your heart flutter with all of it's skillfully prepared, fresh and local ingredients!

Rejoice Burger Lovers, The Big Sheppy is waiting for you at The Old Triange, now...Go get it!

PEI Burger Love: The Prohibition at St. James' Gate

Happy Burger Love Day, Everyone! Toady, April 16th, 2014 marks our annual Burger Day that takes place each April when our whole Province celebrates the amazingness of Beef! I personally have been so inspired by the culinary creations that brilliant chefs have come up with that it's become my, as PEI Burger Love says "Beefy Muse". And oh, what a tasty muse it is! So today, of course, I couldn't miss celebrating the official day for Burger Lovers!

Which left me wondering, which Burger should I eat on these beefiest of beeftastic days? Well, as soon as I read the tantalizing ingredients in The Prohibition from St. James' Gate, my course of action became very clear! "To the Gate!" I cried. And then ran like the dickens!
Welcomed in by a sunny smile from Lydia, I knew that the Burger Love glow was radiating off of everyone. A big huzzah to Lydia for being super sweet and totally excited about Burger Love, just like me!

Now, I feel like I should give readers a little history lesson and it's not about the liquor-banned years of the real Prohibition, this is about St. James' Gate and their Burger Love creations from years past. Each one has always had every single ingredient infused with some sort of alcohol, a delicious prospect to be sure. But this year they decided to do something a little different and gave it a very apt and ironically cute name. The Prohibition, as you may have guessed by now, includes no alcohol infused ingredients.

And let me just say, that with the creative minds of Chefs Mikolai Lykow and Corey Johnson, this criminally good burger is just bursting at the seams with deliciousness! And even though there's no alcohol in The Prohibition, I'm punch drunk in love!

It's no wonder, with 7oz of Seasoned Island Beef, Mild Italian Sausage Slices, Charnwood English Smoked Cheddar, Sweet Onion and Goat Cheese Relish, a haystack of Crisp Red Beet Strings, Roasted Red Peppers, Tomato Chutney and Romaine Lettuce on a House Made Corn Bread Bun garnished with a toasted Pita Chip Heart with Red Pepper Jam.

A truly beautiful Burger Love creation and it's got presence galore! Picture perfect with all of it's colorful ingredients and intoxicatingly alluring with the harmony of flavors that conjure up a lovely scent so good it should be illegal!

Of course one of the things that make this Burger the perfect tribute to PEI Burger Love Day is that absolutely adorable heart shaped pita chip topper with red pepper jam. It was almost too cute to eat. Almost. Honestly, when something smells that good I'm not going to restrain myself. So I dove right in and took a bite of the warm and crispy pita that kissed me with it's sweet and spicy roasted red pepper jam.

From my very first bite, The Prohibition lays down the laws of delectability! It's southwest flavors meets Prince Edward Island all with an appeal that leads from one bite to another and to, well, another! It's warmth embraces you in a flawless combination of sweet, spicy and savory.

The moist and juicy melt in your mouth beef is another reason this Burger is perfect for PEI BL's Offical Day! It's fine ground and perfectly tender with each bite and becomes the amazing flavors around it. Pair that with the Mild Italian Sausage slices, it gives a unique edge of yum to the two meats, which leads me to say. "I love sausage on burgers!" I mean I'm a sausage lover but to be honest it was even better than I could have imagined.

Next comes the smoky Charnwood English Cheddar in all of it's thoroughly pleasing meltyness. Yes, that was a long sentence of emotionally driven love, but hey, the cheese was just that good! It's a delicious presence on the Prohibition and adds to it's blend of epic flavors. Paired with the crunch and sweet beets, the two accentuate each other's uniqueness. The caramelized and creamy goat cheese sweet onion jam is another lay of heaven on this burger stacked high with pleasure.

All of these way too good ingredients are tucked between an incredible corn bread bun that's sweet and crispy; the perfect compliment to The Prohibition! An unexpected twist, it gives the burger even more pizzazz! Those heavenly crunchy edges, ideal texture and unmatchable flavor cinched this as some of the best corn bread I've ever had!

On the side I got St. James' Gate's House Cut Fries with Cajun Garlic Butter on them. I mean, I know butter is good on everything but it's definitely best with fries! The spiced butter not only takes their flavor to a new level but also gives them this awesome crunch. These thick cut, hearty fries are perfect along side The Prohibition!

During the true Prohibition women used to campaign with this statement: "Lips That Touch Liquor Shall Never Touch Ours." Well, this woman has something quite different to say! Lips that touch this burger can certainly touch time! Bring it on, St. James Gate, because I'm in love with what you're dishing out!

They used to say "Lips that Touch Liquor Will Never Touch Ours". Well lips that touch this burger can certainly touch mine! Bring it on St. James' Gate, because I'm in love with what you're dishing out!

And a big shout out to Troy at the Gate! I had a great time chatting about local food and hearing your perspective on our incredible Island and all the potential we have as a foodie's playground! You're an all around awesome guy!

PEI Burger Love: The Eastie Boy at Terre Rouge Bistro Marche

There is a Burger in Downtown Charlottetown that I am irrevocably in love with, it is perfection embodied and truly takes on the deliciously beefy spirit that is what Burger Love represents. Created by the Owner of Terre Rouge, Chef John Pritchard, the Eastie Boy has got me wrapped around it's beefy little finger.

Walking into Terre Rouge, the hip atmosphere and friendly faces were a precursor to this amazing Burger Love visit. Everyone is so inspired by local food and the concept of eating everything and pure and local as possible, especially Courtney who recommended the stellar side that I had with my Burger. But even just reading the awesome looking chalk sign board menu was making me hungry, not to mention the wafting scents of local fare that filled the restaurant. I was on my way to Heaven just one foot in the door!

And as the incredible Eastie Boy made it's way over to me with it's creator, I caught of whiff of the Burger and immediately swooned! If that's what Heaven smells like, take me here, take me now! ...Then again, Heaven couldn't possibly smell this could, could it? Surely only Terre Rouge could conjure up such an alluring burger!

I'll be honest with you, I know Chef John Pritchard's cuisine. I've had his inspiring dishes and have learnt that you can only expect above and beyond the best. So I went into Terre Rouge with the highest expectations I could. And with that first bite...I was completely blown out of the water! It was refreshing in both it's flavor and John's innovative perspective on Burger Love. He treats this burger like royalty and the result is a creation that's the combination of every amazing word in the dictionary!

Check that out! The Eastie Boy is so beautiful he's admiring himself. (And rightfully so, I'd have a mirror plastered to my face if I looked as good as that Burger.)

With 8oz of succulent House Ground Brisket and House Smoked Ground Bacon, a Farmhouse Gouda Fritter, Sweet Bacon Jam, Crisp Leeks, Pickled Mustard Seeds, Green Leaf Lettuce all on an outstanding house made Kaiser toasted in Beef Fat and garnished with a Balsamic Onion Pearl.

Yeah, this is totally the Adonis of Burgers.

The very epitome of moist and tender beef, the Eastie Boy takes the meaning of luscious to a new level with all of it's refined qualities. It's steak like qualities and terrific seasoning makes it taste entirely immaculate. I cannot really explain to you with words how much this beef wowed me. In this month dedicated to Island Beef, Chef John was completely true to the concept of Burger Love by displaying Island Beef in, what I feel is it's truly highest form of deliciousness.

The sweet bacon jam made with Terre Rouge's own house smoked bacon is like nothing I've ever tastes before. Sweet and smoky, it was the freshest bacon I've ever had, which is easy to imagine since it comes from directly inside the same building as the restaurant. Terre Rouge's respect for the best of the best when it comes to food is definitely awe inspiring and should be emulated by as many local Chefs and even us at home. We've got a bounty on the Island and Chef John really highlights that with everything served at his restaurant.

The Farmhouse Gouda Fritter is by far my new favorite way to each cheese! So crunchy it's flavors paired perfectly with the beef and especially with the crispy leeks! This perfectly cheesy fritter should be a side all on it's own, it's got a commanding presence and me, being the cheesivore that I am, just melted at the very first taste. With the pickled mustard seed, the whole thing landed this perfect poise of tastes.

On an almost sinfully delicious bun, toasted in beef fat to once again unify the theme of how incredible Island beef can be, this Burger needs to be tied up with a bow. Why? Because it's a gift to all Islanders! Anything this incredible has to be a gift, just like the talent that stands behind each and every burger that comes from Terre Rouge.

Topped with a sweet and savory balsamic onion pearl, this Burger is the complete Burger Love package, ready to be loved by the masses. On the side was a touch of house made chow (Mustard Pickles for all those From Awayers). A classic accompaniment to any meal on PEI, this version brought that Island staple into 2014 with bold flavors and modern flair.

My side was Smoked Potatoes with house made Crème Fraiche. And let me just say this to start with. These are what every single potato wants to be when it grows up! Smoky, warm and smooth the crème fraiche creates perfectly harmonious flavors with it's creamy coolness. Lightly seasoned to perfection with a touch of chives, these potatoes have a delicate crunch to their edges with a silky inside. Honestly, this is what I want to be when I grow up. Seriously.

I think that my whole review speaks for itself (or for me, anyways), but in case the previous 846 words didn't quite make my point...Go to Terre Rouge! Yes, that's all. Go and eat the best burger of your life, it will blow your mind and leave you begging for more of Chef John Pritchard's incredible creations.

Yeah, sorry,  I couldn't help tempting you just one last time.
